Later that year the offering was expanded to include the first-ever Walmart Online Pickup and Delivery analytics.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">2021 has been a year of major transitions for Walmart as they have made major changes towards online and pickup and delivery in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Walmart Connect was one of the first steps, which revamped the way Walmart approached retail media. Soon after they started testing micro-fulfillment centers that would bring distribution closer to customers in order to deliver orders more quickly and the Walmart Plus subscription service. The latest change and perhaps one of the biggest was Walmart&#8217;s Project Glass.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">To put it simply, Project Glass was the complete overhaul of Walmart&#8217;s website. The biggest change being the combination of dot com and online pickup and delivery being merged in one convenient place. The actual rollout of Project Glass was done in phases, rolling out the new website to a portion of their customers at a time.</p></div>

<p>In collaboration with Stackline, Tinuiti, and Harvest Group, Walmart will be creating new offerings that will enable their advertisers to more easily manage budgets, consolidate media purchases, and perform reporting. Perhaps the most interesting news is that they will allow advertisers unprecedented access to the Walmart customer base, much deeper quality insights, and inventory data for Walmart Sponsored Product pickup and delivery (OPD).</p></div>

<p><span>The new innovations come after several years of progressive improvements in Walmart&#8217;s digital advertising through their Advertising Partner Program, Self-Service Sponsored Product interface, and Performance Reporting Dashboards. These changes had a big impact on their growth which included a 56 percent increase in search inquiries, 185 per growth of Walmart Sponsored Products, and 10X YoY growth in the number of active advertisers using Walmart Advertising Partners.</span></p>
<p>Walmart has made it very clear they won&#8217;t settle for second best when it comes to e-commerce. While these improvements will help brand manufacturers improve performance on Walmart, third-party analytics solutions like <a href="https://analyticindex.com">Analytic Index</a> will still be there to fill in the gaps and provide additional value.</p></div>

According to CNBC, “The moves are meant to help Walmart in its attempt to grow the segment by more than ten times in the next five year and could help Walmart take on competitor Amazon.” Walmart hopes to leverage the ability to advertise to the more than 160 million customers that visit its store or website every month.</span></p>

Their already massive network of stores serve as ready-made e-commerce warehouses, but the items they carry can be limited and the workforce is designed for retail.</p>
<p>With the addition of warehouses and robots, Walmart.com can deliver similar products as Amazon, but get them to customers even faster with same-day or next day delivery. In addition, customers have the benefit of same-day pickup as well. While Walmart currently sits at number 2 in the e-commerce game, they are innovating in ways that must have Amazon nervous.</p>
